Temporary Transportation Approval

The St. Charles School District only grants temporary transportation permission (students riding a bus other than that assigned to that student) for special prearranged situations.  Per our Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Charles, please see the process and required form that needs to be completed prior to granting a student permission to ride a different bus.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Occasionally, students need to ride a different bus or may seek to ride the bus home with another student.  Click here for the form that needs to be completed prior to granting temporary transportation approval.  The process will be:

  • School will verify the parent’s permission for the student to ride the different bus.  This can be in writing, email, phone. . . as long as the principal is satisfied that permission has been granted.
  • School will verify the parent’s permission for the other student to allow the first student to ride home with him/her (if applicable).  This can be in writing, email, phone. . . as long as the principal is satisfied that permission has been granted.
  • School will verify with the Transportation Department that space is available on the bus.
  • School will complete the form, principal will sign it, and a copy will be given to the student.  If the student is very young, an adult may need to ensure that the driver gets the form during afternoon pick up or the day before a morning pick up.
  • School should keep a copy of the form for its records.
  • Student (or adult) will give the form to the bus driver.
  • Bus Driver will return the form to the Transportation Department at the conclusion of the route.

2011-2012 Parent Drop-off/Pick-up

A.M. Drop-off

While students may be dropped off in lower circle at the back of the building by the gymnasium at any time, we ask that students be dropped off in the front of the building in the morning. Only the front doors will be open once school begins.

For the lower circle, please follow the arrows as you drop off students.

For the front of the building, please drop off students near the lower end of the building (this is marked on the pavement by the building sidewalk). Students should then enter through the front of the building.

P.M. Pick-up

If you are picking up your child early from school, please do so by 1:50 p.m. in order to miss all of the bus traffic. Busses will line up in front of the building, so it is imperative that cars are not parked in front of the building after 1:50 p.m. If there are available spaces, you may use the visitor parking that is located at the entrance at the top of the hill off of Elm Street.
